Could Wayne Rooney be the World Cup’s Top Scorer and Most Booked Player?

Good old Wayne has certainly matured, but he’s still the fiery fighter we all know and love. I personally think he’ll get top scorer simply because I’m not sure Drogba’s Ivory Coast will get as far as England and I think Fernando Torres and David Villa will share their goals quite evenly. That being said, I also think we’ll see Rooney’s wild side flare up once again. I doubt he’ll get another red card, but I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see The White Pele have a lunge at Landon Donovan or Jay DeMerit in the first Group C match. He won’t be kicking any crotches this time around (I hope), but you have to think that he won’t cause havoc for every defender he faces. Anyway, my favourite two punts are Rooney for Top Scorer, which is at 9/1, and Rooney to be booked against the US, which is at 9/4.

I’ve been looking around the interwebs whilst waiting for June 12th to arrive, but in the meantime I’ve stumbled upon some enticing bets for the World Cup. I found “The Dugout”, which actually has three different experts having their say on World Cup bets. Journalist Jeff Stelling focuses on the tactics of the game, former referee Graham Taylor talks from experience about who he thinks will wind up in the book, and then there’s an insider focusing on your odd bet. If you’re just planning on enjoying the tournament, then it might not be worth a visit. But if you’re planning on having a go at some bets, then why not check “The Dugout” out.
