While the Carling Cup match between West Ham and Millwall was not postponed, there were three pitch invasions during the game.
West Ham defeated Millwall 3-1 in extra-time at Upton Park thanks to Junior Stanislas’ brace and Zavon Hines notching the third.
Unfortunately, crowd trouble marred West Ham’s victory over their London rivals as there was a mass pitch invasion after Junior Stanislas’ first goal.
The Football Association is set to investigate the violence that marred the cup tie. One man was stabbed as supporters clashed outside the group.
West Ham have vowed to ban any guilty supporter of partaking in these disturbances for life.
“Swift action will be taken as soon as possible, life life bans for anyone responsible for the disturbance,” a statement from West Ham read.
This was the first time the rivals have played each other since April 2005. On that date hundreds of fans were involved in disturbances and disorder.
