I’m sure you remember the Shakira “Waka Waka” World Cup song, everybody heard the music as it was constantly playing this summer. I found this gem on YouTube accidentally by Las Chicas del Can, a successful Dominican Republic pop group. The song was originally titled as “El Negro No Puede” but became known as ”Waka Waka”. Any coincidences?
Shakira claims that she was inspired by the song “Zangalewa” by a Cameroonian band named Golden Sounds. However, the Las Chicas del Can video was filmed 1982 and do you notice any similarities?
