Liverpool ran out 2-0 winners in Steven Gerrard's Testimonial match thanks to goals from Joe Allen and Jordan Henderson on a day of celebration for the Anfield skipper.
The match itself was dominated by Liverpool in the opening exchanges and it came as no surprise when Joe Allen opened the scoring after just 23 minutes tapping home after excellent work from Iago Aspas.
Iago Aspas and Philippe Coutinho caught the eye in the first half and Joe Allen should have sent the hosts in further ahead at the break.
Jordan Henderson replaced Joe Allen on the hour mark and scored within a minute of coming on after being picked out by youngster Raheem Sterling before stroking home a cool finish.
Robbie Fowler came on to a raucous ovation in the 77th minute and raced onto a Steven Gerrard pass in the 80th minute only to see his strike deflected over the bar for a corner.
Gerrard was substituted to a rousing ovation in the 85th minute and in front of a full house with all proceeds from the match going to the Steven Gerrard Foundation to help disadvantaged children.
Olympiacos came close to snatching a goal at the death but their 91st minute free-kick was snuffed out by the Liverpool wall on a memorable day for the Anfield faithful.
