Fulham increase Bent bid

Fulham have made an increased offer for Aston Villa striker Darren Bent after failing with an initial £4million bid.

Cottagers boss Martin Jol is looking for a striker to share the burden of responsibility with Dimitar Berbatov and has his eyes set firmly on Villa's wantaway striker.

The renewed offer is said to be above £5million and is set to tempt Villa to offload a player that has fallen out of favour since Paul Lambert's arrival at the club.

Bent still has two years remaining on his contract at Villa Park after an £18million initial signing fee back in 2011.
