Finally a Premier league title for Liverpool
The long wait is now finally over for Liverpool fa
The long wait is now finally over for Liverpool fans, as they have now sealed the Premier league title, which is their first since the league being founded. It is also a first top flight title for Liverpool in 30 years, which is simply staggering, considering how much success they have had in Europe since. That includes the Champions league title victory last season. A competition that they have already been knocked out of this year, in their defence.
The big question now is whether Liverpool will go on and break the points record set by Manchester City two seasons ago. That saw them finish with 100 points, in an incredible season but Liverpool still had a very solid opportunity to break this. A record that if they do could stand for some time, based on their dominating season to date.
Many punters have been looking at placing bets here, with Liverpool already proving a popular selection ahead of defending their title next season. This includes picking up bonuses with betting sites not on Gamstop. The latter means all sports fans can still get involved on the different football markets, on top of many others.
In order to finish the season breaking the points record, Liverpool will now need to win all three remaining fixtures. This is due to them having only picked up 11 out of a possible 18 points since returning from the extended break. That includes the recent shock 1-1 draw at home to Burnley, which was the first time this season that Liverpool have failed to win at home.
Following 35 matches played, Liverpool have picked up 93 points, winning 30, drawing three and losing just twice. The defeats coming against Watford and most recently Manchester City. The latter being a very one-sided affair, with City winning 4-0 and sending a clear message to the champions ahead of next season. There is no doubting that Manchester City will pose a bigger threat to Liverpool next season, and it sets up for another fascinating duel between the two dominant forces of English football at present.
Liverpool will start off their final three matches with an away trip to Arsenal. They will be expected to take maximum points but Arsenal have been in strong form recently, so are set to pose a major threat to Liverpool. Following this, Liverpool will welcome Chelsea to Anfield. This is another fixture they will be expected to win but with Chelsea battling it out for a top four finish, it sets up for another interesting match-up. Liverpool will then travel to Newcastle on the final match of the season, and this should prove to be an easy three points for the champions.
Liverpool will be expected to win the last three fixtures, but with two of the top sides in the league still to play, it is set to be a tough finish to their season.
