Mike Chalmers is a writer, a filmmaker, and a photographer. But more importantly, he’s a football fan, as well as AFR’s newest addition to our team! Mike is Scottish and currently resides in the culturally rich city of Edinburgh. He’s a Rangers, Scotland, and Birmingham fan, though he was a Chelsea supporter from the age of 5 - 10.

But, in general, Mike is a fan of the sport and doesn’t hold much of a bias. He used to go to lots of Rangers games, but was put off by some questionable incidents off the pitch. Recently he has gone to many Scotland home & away matches as part of the Tartan Army, as it’s a more friendly and enjoyable experience. Mike made a drama pilot about football management that was intended for film festivals, but is being held back as he develops a larger script with the aim to make a short television series.

Embedded above is one of Mike’s short films, entitled “Support”. The film captures the unequivocal atmosphere surrounding a Hibernian home match at Easter Road against Rangers in 2008 towards the end of the Scottish Premier League campaign. So give Mike a warm welcome and show your support for a creative Scotsman with a pure passion for the beautiful game!
