And now arriving in terminal one is the daily service from Matthew Le Tissier International Airport

Did I just read that right, did I just write that accurately, has my lack of sleep and a bad back finally caught up with me? No it is all true. There is a campaign on the popular social networking site Facebook to get Eastleigh Airport renamed after the former husband of the ever so fine Emily Symons. Oh and he was also a football player for some club who are languishing in the depths of the Championship and are flat broke and on the brink of administration.

Le Tissier played for England on several occasions but never really cemented his place in the side. Some say it is because England managers were too scared to build a team around a player who didn't play for a top club, others say it is because no-one thought he was good enough. However at club level he certainly had a distinguished career.

It is not unusual for famous people to have airports named after them, John Lennon (Liverpool), George Best (Belfast City), Charles De Gaulle (Paris), John F Kennedy (New York) and even medieval folklore hero Robin Hood (Doncaster) have all had the honour bestowed upon them.

The question though is whether he really did that much to raise the profile of the area. He never lifted them to any trophies, didn't bring in any tourists, was unable to bring great honour to the area. He was just a half-decent football player.

The only way in which this story would be a flyer is if the area was lacking in history and desperate for some acclaim.

Oh wait...
