New Bayern Munich signing Mario Gotze is recovering well from a hamstring injury, but is likely to miss the start of the season, according to the club's director of sport Matthias Sammer.
The attacking midfielder, 21, sustained the injury during Borussia Dortmund's Champions League semi-final tie with Real Madrid in April and was subsequently ruled out of the final against his new employers Bayern.
"Mario's right on track," Sammer told Bild.
"He is getting excellent care from Dr Muller-Wohlfahrt and our physios.
"Mario is working like a true professional and is playing his part."
However, the Germany international is not expected to be ready for the German Super Cup against his former club later this month, or the start of the Bundesliga campaign on August 9.
