Juventus attempt Borriello extension on a bargain

Newly-proclaimed Serie A champions Juventus are interested in extending Marco Borriello's loan deal if Roma allow him to leave on a cheap.

According to Goal.com, the Old Lady are keen on keeping the striker, who signed a six-month loan contract in the January transfer window, but they will only do so if Roma lower their buy-out fee, set in €8 million (£6.4 million).

The Bianconeri are hopeful the Roman side will allow Borriello to prolong his stay in Turin because of his high wages, as he earns £4.3 million a year, too much for a player who is surplus for their requirements.

The 29 year-old's stay at the Juventus Stadium could automatically show Alessandro Matri or Fabio Quagliarella the exit door, as the Old Lady is also keen on adding a high-profile striker to their squad, with Robin van Persie, Higuaín or Fernando Torres all linked with a move to Piedmont.
