AVB says Torres' improvement not connected with Ju
Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas does not share the opinion that Fernando Torres' form improvement is due to the arrival of Spain's teammate Juan Mata. The blues boss also mentioned there is no agreement between Didier Drogba and the Stamford Bridge team.
The two Spanish players have been getting along with one-another, which has emerged rumours about the fact that having another compatriot in the same team, made Fernando Torres more confident.
However, Andre Villas-Boas does not share that opinion: "Eventually they got to know each other a little bit better now and of course they share social behaviour. It's nothing new that the French go more with the French people or the French-speaking people, and the Spanish and the Portuguese is the same," he said at a press conference.
"But it's not what we're looking for. What we're looking for is inter-relationships in the pitch and we hope for them to establish not only with a certain companion but with every single companion, with no kinds of bias. That's all we're looking for a team performance, not really any kind of double relationship," the 33-year-old manager added.
Fernando Torres has scored twice in six games since the arrival of forward Juan Mata, but prior to that, El niño had only scored one goal in 23 matches for Chelsea.
The Portuguese tactician also told the British press that he doesn't think Mata has affected Torres' performance: "[It has] Nothing to do with it, in my opinion."
Didier Drogba's renewal
The blues coach has also spoken of Didier Drogba's contract renewal, saying that there is no set agreement between Chelsea and the player, but that the Ivory Coast international has an offer: "There's nothing new, and this is a situation where we cannot discuss every single week. I think it's better for us when there is something to tell you, we will announce it. It's just like that. The offer is on the table and eventually we are dealing with the offer. End of story," he concluded.
Chelsea will visit Everton this weekend and the young manager has yet another difficult decision to make, regarding his starting XI: "Everybody is competing, of course, to the highest level, and we just have to make our choices," He told the British press.
Therefore, Villas-Boas concluded saying he hasn't decided about his starting list yet: "I haven't made a decision yet. Tomorrow as you know is the day when we prepare strategically for the game, so the players don't know about the decision and it would be unfair for me to say it before they know."
