After the World Cup dust has settled, soccer continues.
International teams take to friendly matches to tune up ahead of competitive fixtures or to test the youth of tomorrow.
Their fans turn up, from near and far, to pay respect to old heroes or to catch a glimpse of heroes-to-be.
This past week, close to a thousand American fans took the plunge and traveled to Central Europe from all over the world in order to witness the continued evolution of an emerging power.
A long way from the bright lights of modern MLS or Premier League stadia, the 19,000-seat Generali Arena sits atop Prague, casting its eye over the bustle below.
Nets, fences and empty seats segregate supporters, yet encourage them to be noticed.
And noticed they are.
The result, a 1-0 win for the USA, is the least important part of the day. American fans, finding their feet in the international waters of soccer support, prove they are to be seen and heard off the field, as well as on it.
If 1000 Americans can turn up halfway around the world on a Wednesday night for a friendly match, imagine what’s on the way.
