Germany Played And Won As A Team

Germany were simply brilliant as they thrashed Argentina 4-0 to book their place in the semi-finals. The German national team is known as Die Mannschaft - ‘The Team’ and clearly demonstrated why they possess that nickname as they thumped Maradona’s men. Today we saw them attack and and defend as a team. Dominated as a team. Score four goals as a team and finally, win as a team. They were unstoppable.
Thomas Muller opened the scoring in the third minute from a superb Schweinsteiger free kick. The Argentinian defence can only be blamed for the goal because of their terrible three line zonal marking system. The goal affected Argentina who found it very hard to create a dangerous response. The game ended very balanced at half time with the score remaining 1-0, the match was still open.
Argentina started dominating after half time, they continuously attacked the German defence for 20 minutes but were unsuccessful as they were constantly blocked and tightly marked. The Germans did not sit back and play for the narrow win, they hit them with a fast break and Klose made it 2-0 in the 67th.
