GERMANY

Manuel Neuer: The Schalke stopper enjoyed a calm match and was secure at the right moments. Never really tested. 6

Philip Lahm: The captain was one of the best players on the field, a solid defender and a constant threat up front. Produced a fabulous cross for the second goal. A world class right back. 8

Arne Friedrich: Solid at the back, didn’t have a busy day but closed Garcia down and won all the balls in the air. A smooth performance. 7

Per Mertesacker: Not at the same level as his partner but got the job done. Lacked concentration at certain points but was never tormented by the Australian attack. 6

Holger Badstuber: This player is constantly getting better. The 21 year old had a good game and shut down Emerton. Efficient performance. 7
