We’ll be covering the Serbia-Ghana match live and I hope you will join me in watching what is expected to be the most exciting 2010 World Cup match so far. Kickoff is at 3 pm GMT (10 am EST).
Serbia really could win the World Cup. And no, I’m not being sarcastic. With perhaps the best defensive back-line of any participating nation, Serbia easily qualified for the World Cup and all of their star players have had tremendous seasons for their respective clubs. Ghana will be the “home” team today as they will hopefully being supported by their fellow Africans, but it is clear that without their injured captain Michael Essien they will be the clear underdogs. In a group with Germany and Australia as well, whoever comes out on top today will likely progress to the knockout stages. Instead of Essien, or “The Bison”, leading Ghana out, Stephen Appiah, who has played only two club matches in the past two and a half years, will lead his side out.
On the other hand, Serbia, with players like Vidic (Manchester United), Ivanovic (Chelsea), Kolarov (Lazio), Stankovic (Internazionale Milano), Krasic (CSKA Moscow), Jovanovic (Liverpool), and Zigic (Birmingham City) set to shine, “The Beli Orlovi” will clearly fancy their chances. What’s your prediction?
