After an under-performing opening day, Day 2 at South Africa has been a great day of football. Group B started with South Korea beating former European Champions Greece 2-0, where Man. United’s Park Ji-Sung ran riot. But all the attention was focussed on Maradona’s men, Argentina vs Nigeria was a must-watch match for any football lover.

Many questions needed to be answered and La Albiceleste had to prove themselves as contenders to lift the trophy. Was the 3-4-3 formation going to work? Were they finally going to play as a team? Would they play beautiful football? Could they win?

Argentina beat Nigeria 1-0 and demonstrated that they can play football, offensive and beautiful football. They have responded to all the critics and affirmed themselves as candidates to win the competition. Without a doubt this was the team’s best performance under Diego Armando Maradona.
