Building off of an enticing 1-1 draw between Mexico and South Africa, the second match of the 2010 World Cup looks like it be just as exciting. France has, quite simply, been in a state of turmoil as they are coming off of a 1-0 loss to 84th ranked China leading up to this match. The two sides will be in Cape Town at the beautiful Green Point stadium, and although France will still be favorites for this clash, Uruguay, who are led by Atlético Madrid’s Diego Forlan, will hope to spring an upset.
Adding on to the poor form the Raymond Domenech-led France team are in, the French also cannot seem to escape being disliked by many neutral football fans because of the way they qualified. If you don’t remember, France captain and FC Barcelona forward Thierry Henry (pictured above) infamously cheated by handling a ball and passing it to teammate William Gallas to give them a 2-1 win over Ireland in a World Cup qualifying play-off. And it was nothing other than that controversial win that got France a ticket to come play in South Africa. Drama will continue to unfold, you can bet on that.
