The Netherlands were stunning to watch in their friendly against Hungary on Saturday, and they were sparked by a Robben brace for a 6-1 thrashing of their opponents just hours before they would board the plane for South Africa. So with Drogba, Ferdinand, and Pirlo all succumbing to last minute injuries, would the Flying Dutchmen come out of Holland unscathed? No, no they would not.
In the 86th minute, already with a five goal lead, Robben flew in from the right and attempted a cheeky backheel for an overlapping run. Sadly, Robben unnaturally planted his vaunted left leg and actually tripped himself on the way to sustaining what seems to be a serious hamstring injury. Robben did not fly out to South Africa after the match with the rest of the squad, instead he went straight to the hospital for medical testing.
