The Dutch took on Mexico last night at Badenova-Stadion in Freiburg, Germany for the first of their three World Cup warm up games. Coach Bert van Marwijk had already trimmed his initial provisional squad of 30 down to 27, with Otman Bakkal (PSV), Wout Brama (FC Twente) and David Mendes da Silva (AZ) all missing out.
The Dutch were in great shape in qualifying, although have stuttered somewhat in friendlies since then, with just one win from their last four friendly matches. Nonetheless, they were still favourites to beat a Mexico side who had caused England some problems going forward on Monday, but did look at a bit suspect at the back.
