A Potentially Boring Final Day of the Season?

I apologise for not having a post last week and for this one being short, but I guarentee that next week’s shall have a lot more depth and I shall be looking at player transfers, who should go, who should stay, and who should join the English Premier League!

So with one game remaining for all teams, what could have been a fascinating last day of the season should technically be a simple win for Chelsea and then their crowning as Premier League Champions. But could Wigan do what they did to Arsenal to Chelsea and hand Manchester United a golden opportunity to steal it at the death? I highly doubt it, despite Wigan trumping Chelsea earlier in the season. I fully expect Chelsea to wipe the floor with Wigan and United to be left looking back at those fatefull 8 days where they lost to Munich and Chelsea and threw away any chance of winning something this season.

With Tottenham also settling the fight for fourth with what is being called the 60 million pound goal from Peter Crouch due to the prize money and such they will get from playing with Europe’s elite, the final day just seems to be lacking something special. I have to admit, even though I am an Arsenal fan, I wanted Spurs to clinch it, because just as Kaka himself said, had City guarenteed Champions League football they would of been on course to become a “Super Club” due to their financial power and ability to outbid and outmuscle pretty much anyone and everyone when it comes to transfers. You even have to wonder if they will be building a bigger stadium in a couple of years? So well done Petey Boy, you have slowed down City’s growth for a season at least!

The other event that normally takes place on the last day of the season is watching the teams that are on the edge of going down, but have a possibility of staying up, but we already know all the teams that have been relegated, so for 18 teams, there is nothing major to play for on the last day, except for Arsenal needing to win if they don’t want Spurs to pip them to third. And with Fulham casting one eye on their Europa League Cup Final, you have to think that isn’t going to be anywhere near as hard as a full strength Fulham. And with that I want to say good luck to them and Mr. Roy Hodgson!

Normally at this point I would give you my weekend pick of what match to watch, but it should be obvious, Chelsea vs Wigan is the game to watch, some will be praying for Wigan to cause an upset, some of you won’t, either way, who knows what will happen, this is football after all and alot can change in say, the last 10 minutes of a match.
