imageJoining the already star-studded roster of artists who are involved in the music campaign for this summer’s fiesta, Shakira is back once again with a brand new song. In 2006, the bilingual Colombian superstar dropped her hit single, “Hips Don’t Lie” on the world. Anyway, her new song, “Waka Waka (Esto es Africa)” or “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)”, is definitely going along with K’naan and Akon’s African-themed songs. The lyrics are just as good as K’naan’s in my opinion, which subsequently means they’re 10x better than Akon’s. Sorry, it’s just that “Oh Africa” is the most cliché song I’ve heard in quite some time. Shakira’s swag and style shines in her new song, and the beat just doesn’t get old.

“I am honored that Waka Waka (This Time For Africa) was chosen to be part of the excitement and the legacy of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The FIFA World Cup is a miracle of global excitement, connecting every country, race, religion and condition around a single passion. It represents an event that has the power to unite and integrate, and that’s what this song is about.” said Shakira.

The music video is pretty well done too. In fact, it will be available to view in 3D soon. So, if Avatar told us anything, the 3D version will be amazing, not that anyone has a 3D television. The song, which has a Spanish and English version, was written and produced by her. Naturally, I think her Spanish version has more flow. The English version seems a little forced, but it’s still good, especially by World Cup standards. You can watch the Spanish music video above. But if you want to listen it in English, then you can do so right below.
