Oh to be a Cottager! Fulham look forward to Europa League final vs. Atletico after breathtaking comeback!

After going down 1-0 in the first half, Fulham, again, defied the odds and scored the necessary two goals to overcome Mladen Petric’s away goal for Hamburg. So is it just me or did Lionel Messi change his name to Simon Davies and decide to actually show up at Craven Cottage? And when did Roy Hodgson decide that he was a better manager than Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola combined. Okay, I may be getting ahead of myself, but lets face the facts. Fulham defeated defending UEFA Cup Champions Shakhtar Donetsk, Italian giants Juventus, Bundesliga champions Wolfsburg, and now Hamburg, who are hosting the Europa League final.
The European campaign by the Cottagers has been nothing short of legendary. And although I have nothing against Atletico Madrid, who also pulled off an upset by snatching a late away goal at Anfield to dramatically down Liverpool on away goals (2-2 aggregate), I can’t stay neutral for this one. The team is one made of heroes, and more importantly, true professionals. Clint Dempsey, Brede Hangeland, Bobby Zamora, Zolton Gera (who scored the match-winner last night), Mark Schwarzer, Damien Duff, the list goes on and on. But its not about individuals when everyone is a hero: Fulham, you’ve done well. Now go bring some European respect back to England in Hamburg.
Can you find the words to describe Fulham’s European adventure? If so, please share them! (Liverpool-Atletico Highlights are below, by the way)
