This is brilliant stuff from U2 frontman/humanitarian Bono. If Morgan Freeman was born to act as God on film, then Bono was born to epically hype up the World Cup. Not sure if he’s right about this though. Football is certainly about football, but the World Cup, to me, means something more. The World Cup, for many nations, offers a peaceful state to revel in the beauty of the game, but that doesn’t mean that it ignores the issues at hand. Rather, I think the cup allows nations to unite and have enough pride to face their problems. And there’s no greater example of that than South Africa itself…
