imageA quick update from the AFR Team’s player-manager Eric Beard

By the time you read this I will likely be on my way to the airport en route to the land of the Camp Nou, Dali, Gaudi, and everything else generically tied to the capital of Catalunya. From tomorrow until the end of May I will be trying to discover the secrets to Pep Guardiola’s genius studying abroad, learning Spanish & Catalan, traveling, and watching a good bit of the footy. I’ll try to share my football-related experiences with you as they come via video and writings. Throughout the semester I’ll likely be meeting some of the members of the AFR Team in places like Lisbon and London, while also visiting “football friends” in places like Berlin, Paris, Florence, Madrid, etc…

But with the good news comes the bad news (or good news if you prefer everyone else’s writing to mine), I won’t be contributing weekly to AFR while I’m away. But not to worry! Oliver Sparrow, Dominic Vieira, Darshan Joshi, Ulysse Pasquier, Soraya Soemadiredja, Amy Quinn, and my brother Jordan Beard will be sorting out the quality that streamlines the pages of AFR as co-editors. Jon Horner will create gold out of the mildly erratic events unfolding in football and all of the other class acts that post their postulates will hopefully continue to do without me being like the gadfly Socrates was when constantly annoying the city of Athens (for everyone’s well-being of course!). You probably won’t even notice I’m gone until you see me streaking while waving an AFR banner during El Clásico. I NEVER SAID THAT! That would bring quite a few hits in though…

The articles will continue to flow out until our minds are vapid, which is likely not going to happen thanks to the linguistic artistry from the AFR Team’s creative midfielders Gordon Fleetwood, Mirko Corli, Elizabeth Hanchett, Saheli RC, and Amit Katwala (we play a 4-5-1 until Oli gets us back in line for the “proper” 4-4-2). Anyway, as I said before, there are plenty of surprises to come from AFR in 2011. Keep supporting us (we love you like the Spanish girls love Dominic) and we’ll continue to do our best.
