He’s back!
Antonio Cassano, the crazy Italian genius - The forward has completed a remarkable recovery and return to football following crucial heart surgery. After a 6 month absence Cassano appeared on the fields earlier this month, today he started and scored for AC Milan once more. Actually, twice more! Bentornato!
On the 7th of April Cassano wore the iconic black and red striped Milan jersey again, a ritual he never expected to repeat following a post-match stroke. His late substitute appearance against Fiorentina at the San Siro was a proud moment for both football and science. Before returning to action, the Italian international admitted that he thought his career was over, “I was afraid to die, and then past that, I thought about retiring from football.”
Antonio Cassano scored AC Milan’s first goal in their 4-1 victory over Siena. The celebration today was sacred, running to the bench to hug Doctor Rodolfo Tavana, a man who he claims that saved his life. And 3 minutes later he assisted Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Cassano was buzzing. But the best from the number 99 was displayed in the final minute, spinning past 2 defenders to set up Zlatan once again. It’s been the perfect return for the 29 year old, he’s looking better than ever with Euro 2012 only weeks away. Time to get your Euro betting 2012 ready!
The unforgettable smile has returned to Cassano’s face, let’s hope the same happens to Bolton’s Fabrice Muamba and Aston Villa’s Stiliyan Petrov, alongside all the other footballers and athletes, both professional and recreational, in the world. [posted by DV]
