Manchester City want Van Persie as Tévez replaceme

A Football Report

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is considering Arsenal captain Robin van Persie as a replacement for Carlos Tévez.

The Argentine is suspended by the board and appears to be “finished” for his manager, so his future is starting to be outlined away from the Etihad Stadium, albeit the club knows they won’t be able to sell Tévez for the £50 they were asking in the summer.

Van Persie is two years from the end of his contract but recently said he is in no rush to start new contract talks, giving birth to rumours that he might leave the Emirates the same cut-price fee way Adebayor, Clichy or Nasri did in recent years.

According to the Guardian, Manchester City were targeting the Dutchman even before the Munich scandal, when Tévez reportedly refused to come off the bench.
