Through Ryu’s Lens: Brazil v Denmark.

It’s not unreasonable to say that Brazil are back to their best futebol, and coach Mano Menezes is unleashing joga bonito once again. Brazil won this friendly 3-1, with Hulk smashing the game wide open with two goals. In truth, the squad is currently a relatively young one, with Brazilians seeking the gold medal at the Olympics in football for the first time. Ryu was in Hamburg to capture the Incredible Hulk and friends.

Through Ryu’s Lens: The Milan Derby.

Not often does a Milan derby decide who wins Serie A. It’s even rarer when the derby’s winner is not one of the title contenders. But this was exactly the case on Sunday. Inter Milan outplayed their rivals, but subsequently awarded Juventus their 28th Serie A title. The match ended 4-2, with a Diego Milito hat-trick, a brace from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and an absolute golazo from Maicon. Ryu finally got the chance to take in the derby, and he enjoyed every bit of it. Except maybe the smoke from the flares.

Through Ryu’s Lens: Bayern Munich vs. Real Madrid.

The Champions League always provides an immense backdrop, with an abundance of characters. These characters are usually met with excessive amounts of talent, yet this match at the Allianz Arena got ugly. In the end, Mario Gomez bagged the winner for Bayern in the game’s dying minutes, and they’ll take their 2-1 advantage to the Bernabeu for the second leg of the semifinal. Ryu enjoyed a 6 hour train ride to Munich to capture the 22+ men being watched by tens of millions.

Through Ryu’s Lens: Bayern Munich vs. Marseille, Champions League

After a 2-nil victory in the south of France, all Bayern Munich had to do was hold on to their lead. Not only did they hold their lead, but they won once again by the score of 2-0, this time with Ivica Olic scoring a brace. Ryu was at the Allianz Arena to capture Bayern’s smooth progress into the Champions League semis.

Through Ryu’s Lens: Real Madrid vs. CSKA Moscow, the Cristiano Show.

Actually, Real Madrid’s win over the Russians was one filled with teamwork, and spirited performances by the likes of Kaka, Karim Benzema, Mesut Ozil, and Gonzalo Higuain. But at the end of the day, Cristiano Ronaldo scored two, taking Madrid into the Champions League quarterfinals in emphatic fashion. Mourinho’s squad played wonderfully, but with 128 goals in 128 matches, Cristiano was always going to steal the show. Ryu was at the Bernabeú to watch a living legend in his element.

Through Ryu’s Lens - Internazionale vs. Marseille, tragedy in Milano

Bayern Munich and Inter Milan both started their matches Tuesday evening with a one goal deficit to overcome. While the Germans took care of the business with a phenomenal 7-nil win over FC Basel in Munich, Inter Milan played well but were ultimately knocked out due to lazy defending and Marseille’s Brandão taking advantage of an opportunity in the match’s final minutes. Ryu was in Milan to capture Marseille ecstasy and Inter falling just short of the Champions League quarterfinals.

Through Ryu’s Lens - Arsenal vs. Milan, The Comeback That Could Have Been

After winning 4-0 at the San Siro in the first leg, AC Milan thought they would stroll right into the Champions League quarterfinals. Arsenal had other ideas, scoring 3 goals in the first half at the Emirates. It was an electrifying 45 minutes, but unfortunately the Gunners couldn’t keep the pressure up and the match ended 4-3 on aggregate. Ryu was in North London to capture the belief that permeated throughout the stadium.
