The Walls of Portugal x MrDheo’s Street Art

With the World Cup approaching, renowned Porto-based artist MrDheo already has one eye on the tournament. With a history of adding vibrant colours and portraits of club and country footballing heroes to otherwise bleak streets, MrDheo has recently captured Cristiano Ronaldo in the form of goal-sized mural. He has also created a work for Falcao and even presented a piece on pitch at an FC Porto match.

Through Ryu’s Lens: Anything you can do…

There’s only one person more disappointed that Zlatan won’t be in Brazil than Zlatan, and that is Ryu Voelkel. The big man deceives, acting and performing in a way that makes him seem to be more than just that. Camera in hand, Ryu was in Stockholm to witness a  battle between two greats.

Just when Portugal were comfortable, Ibrahimovic put them on the back foot. Just when Sweden were full of hope, Ronaldo silenced the stadium. The Swede did all he could, but could only watch as his counterpart did more.

The moment for Real Madrid to rise is here. La Decima is close, and Cristiano Ronaldo has been crucial to the club’s Champions League success, snatching one clutch goal after another. Cristiano’s free kick - a piece by Dan Leydon
”When planning this piece for AFR I wanted to capture a moment of heightened tension in the Clásico. Something about night games gives a match an added sense of excitement and I love the air of carnival that descends whenever La Liga’s two titans go head-to-head.
Ronaldo’s iconic free kick stance was a definite inclusion and only after I had made the first piece did I have the realisation to add a close up of his eyes.”

An ecounter of this dimension engages some of the greatest stars onto the historic Bernabeu field where Robinho will aim to haunt his old club, Ronaldinho returning to the ground where he scored one of the best goals in the world and Mesut Ozil will be tyring to score his first European goal. From a managerial point of view, this match is Jose Mourinho’s first real challenge for the Spanish giants.

However, the player to look out for will be Cristiano Ronaldo who has reinvented himself under the Portuguese manager after a disappointing World Cup.

Real Madrid’s most expensive player has been in buzzing form this season scoring 6 goals in 7 league games and assiting on 5 occasions. He also scored in both of Portugal’s last Euro 2012 qualifying victories against Denmark and Iceland. What has been the secret behind his form: The manager? His speed? Maturity? Intelligence?
