Thierry Henry made his MLS debut tonight in a 2-2 draw against Houston Dynamo. The former Barcelona forward partnered with team captain Juan Pablo Angel up front and formed a lethal attacking force. Henry did not score in his first official competitive match but set up his Colombian striking partner on two occasions in the 10th and 58th minute, both goals put the New York Red Bulls in the lead. The former world champion also demonstrated his attacking threat by almost scoring on 3 occasions.

The 32 year old, who played the complete 90 minutes did not score in his first match but his overall performance will not disappoint anyone. What’s more important is that the teamwork between him and Angel works smoothly and efficiently, it could become the most feared striking partnership in the MLS.

The result has kept the New York Red Bulls in 2nd place for the Eastern Conferece which will qualify them for the MLS Cup Playoffs. If the club want to fulfill their objectives of winning the competition, the Henry-Angel has to create chances, score them and produce world class magic.

The arrival of Thierry Henry to the MLS has taken the league to a whole new level and tonight it was only his first match.
