10. Miroslav Stoch, Slovakia, Winger, Aged 20

After his magnificent loan spell at Twente where he was crowned league champions, Stoch is travelling to South Africa in perfect form. The Slovak prodigy tends to play on the left wing and has a similar mould to Arjen Robben. His rapid pace, sharp dribbles and precise shots are some of his key characteristics. He may be a small player but his skill and calibre certainly do compensate. Stoch, a key component in the team will run riot against Italy and the other teams in Group F.

9. Simon Kjaer, Denmark, Centre Back, Aged 21

After playing two years as a fundamental player for Palermo, Simon Kjaer is rapidly establishing himself as one of the top defenders of his generation. The Danish rock offers security and assurance at the back with his speed, anticipation and intelligence. He is a tower in the air and rarely loses an aerial challenge, his athleticism and pace makes it difficult for forwards to pass him. Some interesting duals we’ll see him battle out will be against Samuel Eto’o and Huntelaar.
