Manchester City entered into initial negotiations with the representatives of Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko late yesterday evening, over a £25 million move to bring the Bosnian target man to Eastlands. Dzeko finished as the top scorer in last season’s Bundesliga campaign, and has been attracting interest from all across Europe (most notably from AC Milan) but it now seems that City are the first club out of the blocks in the race for his signature.

Juventus midfielder Sebastian Giovinco claims he will leave the club if they continue to leave him on the bench. “Would it mean I have failed if I quit Juve? Not at all,” he said. “If anything, it would be a failure for the club, who have not believed in me. In the long run I think I will prove them wrong. I am more than convinced they will regret it.” Stern talk from Sebastian. [Soccernet]

Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric has signed a new six-year contract with the club to quash reports of a possible move to Manchester United this summer.

Everton are on the brink of wrapping up a deal for Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford.

And last but not least, Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s agent has raised questions over his client’s future at Barcelona and maintained that English football would interest the Swedish striker. “Ibrahimovic has never thought that Barca will be his last club, he is like Mourinho, and if you can win everything with Barca you need a new challenge. English football may be of interest, because it would be a great test. Everything depends on the club.” [Soccernet]
