David Bowie was right.
Last night was the time to be heroes, and José Mourinho and his lads definitely were.

David Bowie - “Heroes”

It has been a tough match, completely different from the first leg. In the San Siro Inter was powerful, with terrific counter attacking on the pitch, controlling the entire game, apart from the last 15 minutes.

In last night’s game Inter never was in control of the match. From the very beginning even before the sending off of Thiago Motta, the Nerazzurri were keen to play a defensive match. Everybody behind the ball line, and less counter attacking than ever. And that was the masterpiece.

It was José Mourinho’s masterpiece, it was a masterpiece by every single player. Always in the game with the right focus on the ball, on the opponents, on the stadium.

Apart from the great save of Julio Cesar in the first half (that’s a world class save, no matter which side you are supporting) and the missed opportunity of Bojan Krkic in the closing minutes, there were no threats to Inter’s goal line.

Barcelona was probably expecting Inter to be playing like they did in the first leg, but the Nerazzurri’s choice to play like a small team in the Nou Camp was the key to winning. Barça simply did not expect to face a wall, and the wall was still up at the end of the game.

Now it’s a Madrid trip for us, and it will be fine no matter what the final result will be.
We’re stronger than Bayern Munich, but with Germans you never now, so it will be very difficult, very tough, but we will be able to face everything. Because this team can face anything, anyone.

Now, it’s time to think about Lazio and win the Serie A. Then, it will be a Spain trip once again.
Do you believe in Inter?
