Amongst the widespread protests and social change that is being demanded throughout the country, Brazil continues to be warming up for next year’s World Cup. All eyes are on the South American giant as it hosts the Confederations Cup this month, as the game is intertwined with the nation’s history and culture like nowhere else.

On the streets or in 80,000 seat stadiums, the game is on show with a distinct level of passion and artistry in Brazil. But while billions have been poured into the World Cup, much to the dismay of Brazilians who are fighting for improved healthcare and education, this is the other side of the beautiful game in Brazil.
