Where was the weekend’s best goal? Not in England, Spain, or Italy, but actually in San Jose, California

Chances are, you probably don’t know who Javier Morales is. Well, he’s an Argentine footballer plying his trade in the United States’ for Major League Soccer’s Champions Real Salt Lake. He is also going down in my book as a Lupe Fiasco certified “superstar” for the moment. Morales gave himself the right to walk with high swank for the next few weeks because of his world-class half-volley that even Mr. Steven Gerrard (the in-form one) would be proud of. Anyway, the MLS season kicked off over the weekend as Real Salt Lake travelled to Cali to face the San Jose Earthquakes, and Señor Morales seemed to know exactly how to get a party started. A true Goal of the Year contender 15 minutes into the start of the season, no big deal.

Actually there were some classy strikes in the Premier League over the weekend as well, thanks to Fernando Torres. Not quite Javier Morales-esque, but still notable. Check it out below.
