Wayne Bridge and Manchester City “Don’t Look Back in Anger” as they thrash Chelsea at Stamford Bridge

The highly-anticipated and highly-controversial Chelsea - Manchester City match at Stamford Bridge certainly lived up to its billing. Vindication was in the air as the traveling City side went on to embarrass Chelsea with a 4-2 victory. Earlier in the week die-hard Manchester City supporter Noel Gallagher of Oasis said, “When Chelsea come to play us Terry is going to get so much s*** and he’ll deserve all of it. I hope our boys give him as much abuse as they can.”

Well “abuse” may be a bit of a harsh word to use, but Carlos Tevez and Craig Bellamy both snatched respective braces, and City did not “look back in anger” as they put on a truly professional performance. The Citizens kept their composure, however, Carlo Ancelotti’s side did not as they finished the game with 9-men (Michael Ballack and Juliano Belletti were sent off late in the second half).

Wayne Bridge added a little drama before the game by (rightfully) refusing to shake John Terry’s hand.

While Chelsea are still sitting atop the Premier League table on 61 points, Arsenal closed the gap on the Blues with an emphatic late-victory over Stoke at the Britannia. Arsenal now sit just three points behind Chelsea after their 3-1 win with 58 point. Despite the game being tied up until the 90th minute, Cesc Fabregas’ penalty and Thomas Vermaelen’s close-range strike added to Nicklas Bendtner’s 32nd minute equalizer in the closing minutes of the seven minutes of added time.

But the win was somewhat overshadowed by a Ryan Shawcross’ red card tackle that appeared to break 19-year-old midfielder Aaron Ramsey’s ankle in the 66th minute. The tackle rightfully made the whole Arsenal side, especially Arsene Wenger, go livid.

  4. topclassgoals said: Perfect day of football for me! Love seeing Chelsea lose, and they deserved a proper romping! Arsenal picked up the pieces, didn’t they? Sad about Aaron though, he’s been class. Still think the Gunners can push through and get their hands on a trophy
