Ready to hear Akon for the next six months? Too bad, he’s responsible for a 2010 World Cup theme song

An official song for the World Cup this summer will be by Akon (featuring Keri Hilson) and it will be entitled, “Oh Africa”. The song is incredibly generic, but it could be worse. Akon is from Senegal, so he fulfills the obligatory need for an African artist (even though he now has American citizenship).

One funny thing that I spotted at the end of the vibrant music video is a wonderful painting featuring the world’s best footballers. There’s Drogba, Torres, Henry, Kaka, Messi, Ballack, Lampard, and ARSHAVIN. Now people should realize this, but Arshavin actually won’t be in the World Cup because Russia failed to qualify. Nevertheless, Arshavin is there giving the painting another dimension with his signature tongue sticking out. Who am I to judge an artist?
