Tevez brace gives City the advantage as they head to Old Trafford hoping to book a spot in the Carling Cup Final
Wait, who was Mark Hughes? Now he’s just another former Manchester United player as Roberto Mancini completely won over the City faithful by commanding an inspired performance from Sky Blues.
Carlos Tevez and Wayne Rooney were by far the two best players on the pitch, as the former strike pair seemed at times in a class of their own.
Manchester United took the lead in 17th minute as Rooney did well to set up a sitter for Ryan Giggs. Craig Bellamy was then held by Rafael in the box, and a City penalty was given. Tevez struck his penalty with menace to equalize for City in the 42nd minute. And it was Tevez who stole the show in the 65th minute as the Argentinean was brave to rnod in Vincent Kompany’s floated cross from a few yards out.
Man Utd are the current League Cup holders. They also won the 1992 and 2006 League Cups. They have been runners-up four times (1983, 1991, 1994, 2003). Will they be able to defend their crown by downing City next week?
