The title of this post may sound like a guide on how to deal with a bad break-up, but that isn’t what it’s about. Well, mostly.

Last weekend’s madness, and that’s putting it mildly, will most likely have had a massive psychological impact on each of the Premier League’s top six, and I believe that their reactions to the weekend’s events, in particular, could shape the course of the remainder of this season.

Let’s start from the top. Manchester United. The unbeaten run was finally, inevitably ended. In the rudest, yet most oddly predictable manner. There would be no new records set at Molineaux. United succumbed to the Premier League’s bottom club away from home. Where have we seen that one before? On the anniversary of the Munich air tragedy, it almost seemed fitting that United would fall from their unbeaten sky and realize their mortality. What now matters is how they react.
