Manchester City maintains perfect record by defeating perfectly imperfect Pompey

It was a tale of two very different clubs this Sunday afternoon as Portsmouth hosted Manchester City’s millionaires at Fratton Park.
Manchester City defeated Pompey thanks to Emmanuel Adebayor’s somewhat supernatural knack for goal, as he has now scored in every Premier League match for the Citizens.
The Togolese striker rose above the Portsmouth defence to brilliantly head Gareth Barry’s corner into the net.
However, the real story of the match is that after four rounds of the Premier League Portsmouth have yet to earn a single point as they sit at the bottom of the table.
Manchester City, on the other hand, have a perfect nine points from three games, and they sit in fourth place with a game in hand.
Commenting on City’s perfect start City manager Mark Hughes said, “"Yes, I think so. I think we have had a really good start, really positive from our point of view and we’re getting clean sheets, if you do that then you’ve got a chance of winning games.
Hughes also paid homage to his keeper by stating, “Obviously as the away side you’re not going to go through the whole 90 minutes and not concede a chance to the home side and obviously Shay had to be up to the mark for the goal and he’s done it time and time again for us.”
Portsmouth manager Paul Hart was proud of his team’s effort stating, “I am pleased with the way we played, the way we went about the job.
"We restricted City to a few chances and I think overall we could have got a point and I think we’d have deserved it as well.”
The City marksman Emmanuel Adebayor said, “"At the moment I’m just working hard for the team and for the club.
“We have played three games and won three games so we’re very happy. We want to keep on going, keep on enjoying ourselves on the pitch.”
