Everton boss David Moyes has been true to his end of the season promise that he would not sell any of his players during this summers’ transfer window. “We told everyone just after last season that we wouldn’t be selling any players and they are still here,” said Moyes.

Joleon Lescott has looked the closest to the Goodison Park exit this summer with Manchester City interested in a £22 million move for the England international. Everton have rejected two Manchester City bids for the Blues’ star defender. A few days ago a move to the Eastlands seemed probable as Lescott was rumoured to be preparing a written transfer request to force through his transfer, but after Friday’s match with Spanish side Malaga the 26-year-old’s future looks likely to remain in Liverpool. Everton supporters applauded Lescott’s every touch throughout the friendly, in hopes of convincing the centre-back to commit to the Toffees. Moyes added to the supporters’ rhapsodies, by panegyrizing the ex-Wolves man after the match.

“Joleon played really well, he was terrific,” said Moyes before adding, “and you only needed to hear the crowd’s reaction to him, they know that what we are doing is correct. There was a lot of cheering for him, and rightly so.”

A move to Manchester City is not completely out of the question as Everton are keen to secure a deal for Arsenal’s Philippe Senderos, a possible replacement for Lescott.

Lescott has made 112 appearances, and has scored fourteen goals for Everton, since joining from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2006 for £5 million.
