Shot on the way to, from, and at Port Vale vs AFC Wimbledon in England’s League 2 this past Saturday, the 14th of January, this film captures the sights and sounds of a typical football awayday.

Beyond the style of the short film in itself, we also love that Patrick Cullinan is an avid reader of AFR (not to mention an excellent contributor to the Off The Post podcast). Patrick sent me a tweet yesterday, saying that this film was partially inspired by “A Supportive Saturday Afternoon”, the short documentary my brother and I put together last summer covering whilst the USA vs Spain friendly.

We’re always delighted to hear that our work on AFR has influenced others to explore their creative potential, whether it be in writing, in photography, or in film. Personally, it’s one of the most rewarding things about running a site that has grown to attract such an intelligent audience. I’ve been influenced by some great writers and filmmakers in the world (of football), and it’s wonderful to see that now we’ve helped inspire others. Remember, you’re always welcome to get involved with us. Let this be a perfect (non-writing) example.

Equipment and Locations: Canon 500D/T1i, Magic Lantern firmware, manual Olympus 35mm f2.8. Recorded in London, Stoke-on-Trent and everywhere inbetween, 14th January 2012.
